ZBPLM is a multi-protocol interface that allows PC and hardware-based automation controllers to monitor and control ZigBee, INSTEON and X10-compatible lights, appliances, heating/air conditioning systems and alarm systems. The device communicates with a controller via a serial RS-232 line and a simple command/response protocol.
The ZBPLM includes a ZigBee PRO radio based on the Jennic 5148 to offer unparalleled performance as a ZigBee coordinator. As if that wasn't enough, the ZBPLM also includes the INSTEON PLM chip from SmartLabs for INSTEON and X10 communication.
ZBPLM ships configured as a ZigBee coordinator implementing the HA Profile. This CID (Combined Interface Device) implements the majority of the HA Client Clusters for controlling and monitoring typical ZigBee HA networks. Note: This device does not ship with a software package and is currently intended for developers that will be creating their own user interface or controller. Docklight can be used as a diagnostic tool to view the information to and from the ZBPLM.
Power Requirements: This device will have full functionality in 120V AC, 60 Hz power environments only. INSTEON and X10 require 60 Hz and the PLM requires 120V. If your environment is 240V AC and 50 Hz, Zigbee will still work if a step down transformer is used to supply 120V AC. The USB-CID is our ZigBee only version of the ZBPLM.
